The holiday season is imminent and we’re trudging through the end-of-the-year work rush, but it’ll take a little more than that to stop Yata & Haru from scribbling together some updated thoughts on (most of) this fall season’s hit series. Which ones are exceeding our expectations? How are the numerous sequels of the season faring? And most importantly, which shows are we letting go of now that we’ve given them a fair chance? The answers may surprise you – read on!
Hey, everybody, and welcome back to a somewhat special mid-season update from For Great Justice. It’s not only time to run down what we’ve thought about many of the summer’s most popular shows since first impressions, it’s also mid-August, which means it’s time to celebrate the site’s third birthday! From the bottom of our hearts, whether you’re stumbling upon us now for the first time or go back as far as our clunky early days, thank you for your continued support and readership. It means so much.
Not gonna lie, all of us are a bit antsy lately, so this may be a quicker than usual batch. Yata and Catche are gearing up to head back to college in a week and Haru has been busy alley-crawling at Anime-Fest the last few days, so we’ve all got a bit on our plates, but that’s rarely stopped us from getting something out there before, and it sure isn’t going to now. What titles held up from earlier in the season? Which have let us down? And where are we drawing the drop line? Find out all this and more below!
Hey, everybody, and welcome back to For Great Justice! The world may be continuing to go to shit, but the Anime Gods have been benevolent this year, and as we approach the halfway point of the spring season, Yata and Haru strapped down to make their positions clear on some of the season’s biggest shows. Which sequels have held up their hype? Which new entries appear to be the cream of the crop? And the most important question of all: is alcohol poisoning actually preferable to watching Eromanga-Sensei? The answers to all these questions and more lie below. Let’s jump on in.
Well, I was right in predicting we’d get a new update article out in February. Guess I just underestimated how long it would take. But hey, for the first time in a while now, Yata, Catche, and even Haru were all able to dump together some thoughts on what they’ve stuck with this winter 2017 anime season. Some of the highlights are clear, some are…not quite what you’d expect, and there’s a fair bit of gray area in between. What shows have been doing great justice for who, and of course, the juicier question: what’s getting dropped? Read on to find out!
We’re back! I hope all our American readers had a happy Thanksgiving, just as we attempted to with varying levels of success. Just like some leftovers can sit at the back of the fridge and go bad after a while, so too can anime outstay their welcome. With an exception or two, it’s bad show scrapping time, and Yata and Haru are here to bring to you a quick mid-season update on where things stand heading into the season’s final stretch. We hope you enjoy it!
Hey everybody, Yata here. We’re halfway through the summer season, and since circumstances have left me going this one alone (a.k.a. Haru’s emptying his wallet at AnimeFest), instead of running through each show alphabetically the way we’ve always done, I’m gonna try something different.
That’s right, I’m ranking this mother lode of a season.
I’ll be keeping my thoughts as brief as I can with a summation of what each show I’m still watching is doing right, wrong, and how likely I think it will improve or fall apart from here accompanied by our standard out-of-10 score and an episode count status update. Hopefully you can dig this format, and if not, oh well, things will likely go right back to the old one next time. The season is mostly staying strong and there’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!
Hey, folks. Summer may be rapidly approaching its end, but as far as anime is concerned, these summer shows are just ramping up for the homestretch. Yata and Haru are back again to bring you some updated thoughts on the summer season with two out of three months complete. We’re making do with what we have in this slim pickings season, and some stuff we didn’t think much of at first is proving to be surprisingly consistent. Who’s still going with what? And how is everything faring with one month to go? All this and more on our second mid-summer update!
Hey, folks. Summer was looking like one of the weakest anime seasons in recent memory, but Haru and Yata found a few things worth sticking with past first impressions week. With another month under their belt, how many will continue to make the cut this time?
(Hopefully a lot, because…)
By the way, although it’s been almost one year since this site’s inception, we’re still changing things up a bit and trying to work out some kinks. The midseason update articles used to be awkwardly titled with fractions, but it’s about time for that to change. At the moment, we’re going with this title format for future monthly updates, but if you have any suggestions, comment and let us know!
Anyway, on to the shows:
Hey, folks. It’s now May, and one month into the spring 2015 anime season, For Great Justice is back to bring you our thoughts on this season’s best, worst, and most irritably average shows. Long story short: start watching Blood Blockade Battlefront.
Just a note: this will be Yata’s last article for at least a month and a half, as he’s going to be moving halfway across the country to go to college and that will understandably take up a large amount of his time and attention. Haru and L-K will be back for the Second Third Thoughts article over this season at the start of June, and hey, who knows, maybe we’ll even do a mid-season podcast or two with the whole gang.
Anyways, spring! What’s worth keeping up with? Read on!
A couple weeks in to the start of 2015 as the year promises to be a busy but fun one, Yata and Haru are back to bring you updated thoughts on the season’s new anime and some enjoyable carry-overs from the fall season. Yata especially has plenty of catching up to do since he’s a chump and his schedule didn’t permit enough time to write up his conclusions on last season. That’s life though. Things happen…and sometimes things don’t happen, but this thing is happening. What are the frontrunners? What did we try to give a chance but drop? Let’s run ’em down.
Side note, we meant to post this yesterday, but the Super Bowl got us distracted, hence being one episode behind on Maria and Yurikuma. Bear with it.
